WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING:

“Dear Mamie, my dear friend, I admire what you are doing with the publication of your book, An American Story: My Family & Yours.”
I have no doubt that this book will be phenomenal just because Mamie’s fingerprints are all over it. She traces her family’s history from slavery going back to the 1830s because she was compelled to learn who she is. I am looking forward to reading her story because it is our story.
I just want to say that as an author and historical writer myself, I’ve known Mamie Smith for several years starting with our membership in the Detroit Writers Guild and our business involvement with a mutual friend. Our paths were meant to cross.
Mamie’s first book The Unfolding of a Rose gives us a glimpse into her amazing life as a wife and mother, traveling around the world with her husband; and coping with her daughter’s death. She is a music teacher, an author, and business woman. Researching and writing her family’s history is a natural progression for her.
Thank you Mamie Smith for tackling this topic. It is not an easy task to pursue.
