Choreographer and teacher Gina Ellis uses style, poise and knowledge to dance on some of New York’s choice stages. After spending years wooing audiences across America, she settled in Detroit as a teacher and shared her skill-set. Today . . . she is still “at it!”

EAMT – The Place 2B!
Ms. Ellis is Detroit “home-grown,” graduating from Cass Technical High School and receiving higher education and Master Degrees from Eastern Michigan, Wayne State and Concordia Universities. Journeying to New York, she danced on Broadway and appeared in national performances like The Wiz, Perlie Victorius and the European production of Body and Soul. Additionally, well-known movies like Spike Lee’s Malcolm X and HBO’s Josephine Baker Story, became part of her repertoire.
Returning to Detroit in 1994, Gina was assistant choreographer for the Stevie Wonder Pre-Show for Super Bowl XL. For 20 years, Ms. Ellis shared her knowledge, skill-set and life experiences with students at Renaissance High School. Presently, she is Arts Academy Coordination for Carr Center.
